The commemorative coin is dedicated to Bohdan Khanenko, a representative of a senior cossack dynasty, collector, patron of the arts, entrepreneur, and a public figure, who was reputable in the financial and industrial circles and distinguished in the business and public life of Kyiv. Collecting items was life’s work for Bohdan Khanenko. Together with his wife Varvara Khanenko, he made a significant contribution to the cultural heritage of Ukraine: for over 40 years, Bohdan and Varvara Khanenko collected unique pieces of art from all over the world, and founded the museum that currently bears their names.
