This coin celebrates the unique technique of Pliontanism, which was invented by the genius contemporary artist Ivan Marchuk. His signature style, similar to lace made of the finest strokes, gives the paintings three-dimensionality, creating dynamic light effects through a play of shades. These commemorative coins pay tribute to the outstanding artist, whose talent and innovative approach to painting have been recognized worldwide. Obverse of the coin: in the center is a fragment of the painting “Awakening” created by Ivan Marchuk in 1992. The design motif is a circle that associatively resembles the sun, symbolizing the source of life, energy and development. To the right of the composition, against a matte background, are the legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), the coin’s face value 5, the graphic symbol of the hryvnia, the coin’s issue year – 2024, Ukraine’s small coat of arms, and the mint mark of the NBU’s Banknote Printing and Minting Works.

Reverse: there is a fragment of the painting “Awakening” – an image of a girl with a blue and yellow ribbon on her head. The girl stands against the backdrop of the blooming vastness of her native land, symbolizing the awakening of Ukraine.
